Candlelight Vigil

Not In Our Town Candlelight Vigil to Support the Islamic Community in Bloomington-Normal

Not In Our Town is sponsoring an interfaith, community solidarity event on Wednesday, December 16, 6 p.m., on the east side of the Old Courthouse, 200 N. Main Street, downtown Bloomington. Co-sponsoring are First Christian Church, New Covenant Community, the Presbytery of Great Rivers interfaith group, and Moses Montefiore Temple, in collaboration with the Islamic Center of Bloomington-Normal and Masjid Ibrahim Mosque. In case of inclement weather, the event will move to Major Hall, First Christian Church, 401 W. Jefferson, Bloomington.

Piano Player Needed

Our long-time piano player, Russ, is retiring at the end of the year, and we are searching for a new piano player for our Sunday morning worship services. This will be a paid position.

Complete info provided by clicking here.

Please share this info with any local people who may be interested.

Fall Stewardship

It’s that time of year again – our Fall Stewardship campaign has started! While we are more low key than most congregations about stewardship, that does not mean we we don’t need your support to continue to provide a progressive Christian presence in Bl0/No.

You can find the letter and estimate of giving form by clicking here.

You can find a copy of a draft of our projected expenses by clicking here.

Please help us continue in our time what Jesus began in his, working for the healing of our world as an inclusive, compassionate, and joyful community.

A few items …

The approved minutes of the June 16 Steering Committee meeting are now online. You can find them here.

The Memorial Service for Julie Sullivan will be after the service on Sunday, August 23 at 12:30pm in the Chapel. A light reception will follow in the coffeehouse.

A reminder that we are having our annual joint worship service with the Unitarians on Sunday, August 30 AT the Unitarian Church in Bloomington. There will be NO service at NCC that morning – instead we will join them for a blessing of the animals service.

The Steering Committee met last night and approved the March meeting minutes, which are now available online. You can find the minutes here.

A reminder that this coming Sunday April 19 is Poetry Sunday. Please bring a poem to share – either an original poem or one written by someone else.
